  • Volunteering and the difference it makes

Becoming a volunteer with Home-Start Essex is incredibly rewarding. You get to give something back to your community and you have the potential to make a long-lasting difference to families.

You also get to:

  • Meet new people
  • Make new friends
  • Make a difference in your community
  • Attend our social events
  • Gain new skills and experience which could support you into employment
  • Share your experience with others

You will provide families with practical and emotional support, and encouragement in their home by visiting them once a week for a period of six months. You are introduced to the family by one of our co-ordinators and then work with the family in a variety of ways, such as getting out of the house, encouraging positive parenting, and helping with nursery/school readiness. You encourage the family to explore and reflect and come up with their own solutions.
