Key Aims of the Project

The Lullaby Project Essex aimed to support maternal mental health, early childhood development and family wellbeing:

Support maternal mental health

Whilst fathers, partners and other caregivers are welcome to take part, a key aim of the Lullaby Project is to promote and support maternal mental health. Research into Lullaby Projects has shown that participants develop a growing sense of wellbeing, self-confidence, creativity and capacity to be loving, sensitive and responsive caregivers.

Promote early childhood development

Talking and singing has been proven to soothe a child and provide important opportunities for young children to hear new vocabulary, improving their language, social and communication skills.

Strengthen family and community bonds

The Lullaby Project is grounded in research that underscores the importance of music in early childhood development. The writing and singing of lullabies can strengthen relationships between parents, children and their wider families. Lullaby Projects around the world have also helped to bring members of the community together through music
