Community voices: Debbie's story

Debbie, Peer Supporter for Parents 1st Essex shares her journey from volunteer to paid work.

Debbie answered an ad in a newspaper over 8 years ago to enrol on a volunteer taster course for Parents 1st Essex. From there, Debbie has gone on to support over 150 women through pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Her commitment to supporting women during this life-changing time is inspiring. Covid 19 and lockdown created new challenges as Debbie was forced to upskill her technology skills in order to continue supporting parents, but she's met these challenges head on and has been an absolute lifeline to many mums.
