Ashleigh's story

 Ashleigh experienced a mental breakdown previous to falling pregnant with her first child. She sought professional help and was discharged from therapy well before she fell pregnant.

However, when she fell pregnant, anxiety began to resurface and she feared she would miscarry. Being pregnant through a pandemic, prevented her from accessing traditional antenatal classes so she was referred to Parents 1st by her Community Midwife for some extra support.

Ashleigh found the stigma that accompanied her mental health issues hard to deal with. She worried about what implications that would have for her as a parent but found it incredibly useful to talk it through with her community parent.
