Healthwatch Essex have recently published a report on pregnancy and postnatal experiences of women with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease/Ulcerative Colitis) and identified the need (among others) for a reliable and accessible source of maternal IBD information.

From this research they have coproduced a resource for parents to use and would love to share their findings and explain the resource in more detail to those working with women in the perinatal period.

They’ve learnt how mothers with IBD can advocate for themselves, what matters to mothers with IBD when preparing for birth and the postnatal period, and how parents wishing to breastfeed or hybrid feed can be supported.

Both the final report and the co-produced resource “From Bump to Baby with IBD” have now been published and are available to read here.
