Join the Parents 1st UK team as our new Peer Support Worker for Thurrock
Location: Thurrock (home-based with community outreach)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Salary: £13.85 per hour
We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Worker to join our team in Thurrock, supporting expectant and new parents through the Start for Life Programme.
This is a meaningful, community-based role where you’ll walk alongside parents during pregnancy and early parenthood, helping them feel confident, connected, and supported.
About the role
As a Peer Support Worker, you’ll:
- Provide 1:1 and group peer support to expectant and new parents
- Build trusted relationships with families, especially those who may feel isolated or vulnerable
- Deliver support in homes, Family Hubs, and community settings
- Help parents access local services and feel confident navigating support systems
- Work closely with midwives, health visitors, Family Hub teams, and voluntary services
- Deliver outreach activities and help grow awareness of the programme
- Support parents using a strengths-based, empowering approach
You’ll be aligned to a Thurrock Family Hub (Central – Grays) and play a key role in connecting families to the wider network of support available.
