My name is Lauren McSorley and I am a Psychology PhD researcher at Leeds Beckett University. For part of my PhD project, I would like to recruit healthcare professionals who support the mental health of new mothers in an online capacity. I am hoping that you might like to talk with me and others about experiences of the support you provide. I can confirm that ethical approval for this study has been received on 25th October 2021.

Who we would like to take part:
We are inviting you to take part in this study if you are:
• Aged 18 years or over.
• Resident in the UK.
• A healthcare professional (HCP) with recent experience of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of new mothers in an online capacity (for example, via online forums, web based maternal charities, social media groups/support networks).

Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and you are invited to read the additional information by clicking the link below and consider carefully whether you feel you wish to be involved in this research project. Participation in this study is not dependent on the association or organisation you work for. You will also not be asked to disclose information pertaining to work conducted via the NHS or your role within the NHS if this is applicable.

When:

Purpose of study: The aim of this study is to explore HCP’s experiences of offering online support to new mothers regarding their mental health and wellbeing. This is to better understand some of the benefits and challenges of supporting women via this outlet, and to consider how this type of support could be improved or integrated with other methods. We wish to use this information (along with other research conducted during my PhD) to consider how healthcare professionals in all capacities (along with online support providers) can best support the mental health of new mothers. So far in my research, I have asked new mothers to share their experiences of using online or remote methods of support and therefore, I would very much welcome your views if you are providing this type of support.
