Project Title: Interpersonal support systems and paternal mental health during the transition to parenthood

The aim of this study is to understand the experience and support needs of fathers whose partners experience postnatal mental health problems. The study is being conducted by Fern Copland as part of her DPsych Counselling Psychology training and is supervised by Professor Simon Hunter at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Why is this study important?

This is an important study because little is known about how becoming a father, when their partner has postnatal mental health problems, can impact on men’s wellbeing. To achieve this, we are recruiting fathers whose first child is aged 3 years or younger. We hope that this study can help to inform the support that is available to fathers in future.

If you are interested in participating and would like to know more then please contact Fern Copland [email protected]
