The International Journal of Birth and Parent Education is inviting anyone working with parents during the critical 1000 days from conception to two years of age to create a short video (3-5 minutes) on any aspect of preconception education or education for birth and early parenting. The aim is to inform parents and help them to take the best possible care of themselves and their children. We are not judging production quality; we’re looking for excellent content and impact - so video filmed on a mobile phone or tablet is fine.
The video might be used:
- For parents to watch at home
- On a loop at a GP surgery or an antenatal or health visitor clinic
- At a child and family health centre, or children’s centre
- Or to show during an antenatal or postnatal course or when supporting individual parents.
Entrants can choose their own topic. Some suggestions might be:
- How to make an informed decision about care during labour and birth
- The first 24 hours at home with your new baby
- Where to get help with breastfeeding
- What your baby is telling you
- When Dad is sad
- Quick ways to stay connected with your partner in the first months of your baby’s life
The prize is £500 for the winner and £50 each for 5 runners-up.
All the details of the competition and the Terms & Conditions can be found on the Journal website at ijbpe.com from October 16th. This competition runs until the 28th May 2021.
