Join our fully qualified YMCA personal trainer, Sally Taylor, for her weekly outdoor exercise sessions designed to help you keep healthy after birth. Enjoy a walk round the park and some light exercise with your little one, whilst meeting other local parents.
These sessions are suitable for new mums, and mums of little ones up to 18 months old.
What to expect from Baby Buggy Fit:
- A gentle buggy walk warm-up
- Walk around the park track (approx 1.35 miles)
- Tailored postnatal exercises as you go round the park
- Exercises using your buggy for resistance and support
- Exercises using available park benches, park equipment, resistance bands
- Pelvic floor exercises
- Stretches and cool down at the end of the route
- A drink and chat in the cafe at the end of the session
Sally has over 10 years’ experience of providing exercise sessions for pregnant and postnatal women. Her classes are adapted to suit all women after giving birth and all fitness levels.

If you’re pregnant, please make sure your midwife or healthcare provider is happy for you to exercise.
If you had a straightforward birth, you can start gentle exercise as soon as you feel up to it. This could include walking, gentle stretches, pelvic floor and tummy exercises.
It's usually a good idea to wait until after your 6-week postnatal check before you start any high-impact exercise, such as aerobics or running. If you exercised regularly before giving birth and you feel fit and well, you may be able to start earlier. Talk to your midwife, health visitor or GP.
