The Parent People Boosts Project thanks all those who have supported parents throughout 2020 with their parent people care packages...
Lockdown for new parents meant that many were unable to access traditional support circles (i.e. antenatal groups or physical support from family and friends) in the first early months as they adjust to parenting.
Furthermore, many communities who are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, social equity issues, racial discrimination or inequality and isolation have never needed a support network more.
Whilst 2020 was an incredibly difficult year, the hundreds of people who have stepped up to champion, advocate and care for their community have dedicated their time and energy to ensuring no one gets left behind.
The aim of the Parent People Boosts Project therefore is to offer recognition for the hard work of people who have supported parents throughout 2020.
Some of them have been doing this for years, others for decades and some of them are new to the role. Some work inside the traditional charitable or statutory service structures, whilst others work outside of these structures.
We believe that they all deserve a thank you and some support to keep energised and mobilised to support parents in their virtual, physical, religious, identity-based and experience-based communities.
So, in acknowledgement of their effort and action throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and the social movement triggered by the murder of George Floyd, the Parent People Boosts Project put together three Parent People* Care Packages.
Parents 1st UK is proud to have been one of the early years charities involved in this collaborative project.
Parent People Boosts is a collaboration led by Home Start UK and Shift which involved generous support from some of the UK’s largest early years charities.
