CEO Gateshead Carers

  • I am CEO of a charity in Gateshead which is run by and for unpaid carers. I am particularly interested in connecting with parent carers of disabled children. Our experience in Gateshead is that parents with disabled children have difficulty accessing their legal right to a Parent Carers Needs Assessment from the local authority. 
  • Requests are often seen by the LA as a safeguarding concern which is just wrong and infringes on the rights of parents of disabled children.
