About

Programme Manager - Parents 1st Jaywick, Clacton and Tendring Peer Support Programme

I joined the parents 1st team in December 2022 to set up a new perinatal peer support programme in Jaywick and Tendring, I'm proud to have trained 8 wonderful parents to become Peer support volunteers in their local community. Our volunteers will support pregnant mum's through their pregnancy, helping them to identify any areas where they may need support to have a healthy pregnancy and helping them to navigate the system, they can attend appointments and help them to be prepared for the birth of their child and the changes this will bring to their family life.  Some of the volunteers have also completed additional training to become a Birth Buddy, this enables them to support at the birth if requested by the family. Since I started setting up the new North ESsex programme I have also Introduced monthly parent meets ups at Martello Lounge in Clacton and East Coast 5 in Walton, set up the Clacton, Jaywick and Tendring Facebook group for all expectanat and new parents living in Tendring, welcomed musicians from London charity Live Music Now to work with groups of parents and supporting them to write their very own Lullaby for their baby, which they then record and add music to.  I am currently setting up regular fortnightly Outreach sessions in Clacton Maternity unit and working closely with B3 to set up regular sessions for African, Caribbean, and mixed-heritage women living in Tendring - its been a very busy couple of years since I joined the team - but I wouldn't want it any other way!
