“I first saw the advert in the local paper, I remember reading it and thinking “ I could do that”. I spent the next 3 days pondering over it. I rang them, attended a meeting and the rest is history. 18 months on I have supported 3 mums and attended 1 birth. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride but an amazing experience and one I am proud to be part of”.

Is it for me?

The first step is to sign up to the ‘Supporting Parents-to-be’ four (4) session taster course. This provides an important introduction as well as the opportunity to think about whether the volunteer role is for you.

During the taster course you will:

  • Identify your existing skills, knowledge and experiences that could be used to help support parents-to-be
  • Decide whether you wish to take the next step and apply to do further training to become a Pregnancy Pal, Birth Buddy or Practical Parent Pal
  • Make new friends, learn from each other and enjoy yourself

This is a fun and friendly way for you to gain new skills, build your confidence and explore your options.

If you are interested in joining one of our taster courses and would like further information or just want to chat to find out more about what is involved please contact us by phone or email.
